I've written about the Gourmet Pao's Pesto- Veggie Wheat Pao twice already (1st and 2nd) and I must admit that I'm learning to appreciate it better now.
I realized that it's best eaten fresh from the steamer. The wheat dough is soft and the filling still hot. It's not "grainy" too like other wheat-based bread products.
I just hope they'd have more varieties of flavors for wheat pao and prices would be a bit lower too. It's big but then I feel that P120 is a bit too expemsive for a siopao.
How about you, do you like siopao? What's your favorite?
18 shout-outs:
it looks very healthy, sis! medyo mahal nga lang no?
for our siopao cravings, we usually go for either Ma Mon Luk or Kowloon house...
@ doc gita: yah medyo expensive sya. yung regular nila (white dough) is P60 for a small size and P120 for the bigger one.
This is indeed gourmet in all levels, wheat, pesto, veggies....
But I still can't imagine the taste though...
P 120.00 is rather steep for a siopao, even one made with whole-wheat flour like this one. At that price, I think I'll stick to North Park's ginormous Taipao: it's worth it.
@badet: in fairness, ok naman yung taste ng filling. i like pesto kasi e.
@midge: i know, its expensive! even the rgeular size at P60 is steep. coz you can get a siopao for 20-30 bucks e. haven't tried north pao's taipao.
i love siopao and i have heard of gourmet pao though haven't tried them yet (note to self: MUST TRY THEM SOON!). that does sound a bit expensive, though (and i am a scrooge sometimes. lol).
i like siopao...and this one is a healthy one, but yes, i think its expensive na for a siopao. happy friday! :)

Hmm, "Veggie pao" doesn't sound so appetizing haha but I can probably eat this on my vegetarian day! (I have one once a week.) Really great tip, thanks! :-)

What a coincidence, I just made some siopao today but its the asado version. Your's is really unique, I might have seen vegetables in pao like cuapao before but nothing like this.
i love siopao!
i'm so intrigued by the wheat bun. maybe soon!, nice post!
Where did you buy this, First time I heard about gourmet siopao is at a baking class with San Miguel. It is one of the recipe they feature. The one we made are yummy, your pics says the same!
Joy Calipes-Felizardo: bought it in Gourmet Pao in Alabang :)
