I first encountered this bakery in SM Southmall a long time ago. Whenever we'd get a chance to drop by, we never forget to buy their ube or mongo hopia and tikoy rolls. All tasted really good-- a nice (and cheaper?) alternative to Eng Bee Tin. Few years ago, I saw that they have a store in SM Makati Foodcourt but it closed down after sometime. I'm just so happy to see it this afternoon in SM North Edsa Food Court so I made sure to buy a couple of goodies to try.
Choco-Nuts Bread (Php19)
I've tried this before when I bought it in their Makati branch. At first, I thought it's
Chocnut-flavored bread until I ate and and found out that it's a chocolate bun covered with coconut. Nice combination though! Thumbs up! The bun is big and not hollow when you slice it in half so it's really filling. I had this this for breakfast today and perfect if paired with black coffee.
Rose Bread with Ube (Php22)
I love anything with ube so this easily caught my eye. It's their version of ensaymada (sans the thick margarine topping) with ube filling. I love that they didn't scrimp on the ube! They also used real ube and not just any flavoring or food coloring. The bread is quite big too so this was enough for my dinner yesterday since I wasn't that hungry yet. You can also try the Rose Bread with Mongo filling.
Aside from the hopia and tikoy rolls, they also have loaf breads, siopao, different sweet or meat-filled buns, shing-a-ling/ chips, and the list goes on. I just hope to find a branch of Salazar Bakery us. I rarely chance upon their stores when we go to different malls.
