Aglio Olio at Figaro

I was too eager to try Figaro's pasta for lunch today so I asked my sister if we can have lunch there. Since she wanted to try their pizza too, she agreed right away. But I regret asking her to eat in Figaro... what I ordered was totally disappointing!

We ordered one Five-Cheese Pizza, Aglio Olio pasta and Dalandan Frost. They made us wait for almost 20 minutes before serving our orders. Since we waiting for so long, I was expecting the dish to be piping hot when served... but NO! The pasta looked dry and reheated. It's also literally swimming in oil... eeeeww! I asked for another plate so I can transfer the noodles and remove the excess oil.

Taste-wise, it didn't meet even one-fourth of my expectations. It was bland!! Really not worth the P179 price. My sister said the Five-Cheese pizza was okay; crust was too thin though. Nothing "wow" with the pizza too. Well, we should've opted to go to Pizza Hut if we wanted pasta and pizza. Cheaper and better tasting than what we had from Figaro.

Hmmm, not going back there again! Never.

i guess the rule of thumb is, don't expect too much when their specialty is coffee (tee-hee). if you're craving for pasta, go to a pasta place, if pizza, go to your fave pizza place.:p

super inis ako sa ganyang mga restaus... they shouldnt include items na lang on their menu if they cant serve them right diba. not fair sa clients nila. buti sana kung mura eh. kaso, minsan, mas masarap pa sa kanila yung cheaper brands!
bye bye, figaro! thanks for sharing this, sis!

Too bad you didn't enjoy your lunch. I love Figaro's Pasta Chorizo. It's a little on the oily side but really tasty.

maiyah: i like the grilled chicken sandwich i ordered before in glorietta, but this pasta sucks.

luna: i know. well i was just curious about their pasta coz i've read blogs raving about it.

vhen: i love aglio olio too but this one, i'll pass!

gita: korek! >:(

jellybelly: it's TOO oily for me.. what worst is they made us wait for so long then when they served the dish, it didnt look like it was freshly prepared. darn.

Having waited for a long time is already irritating the more when the food does not meet your expectations...and from your pics...nakakalula nga ang oil sa plate...

Mine is up at FTF No. 21. Hope you can visit back...

I haven't tried Oglio Olio... I always order the Pasta Ala Carlo all the time ^_^ But I have to say, Five Cheese Pizza is really good.

oh so sorry for your lunch...well, at least alam mo na ang service and food nila. Thanks anyway for the comment.

hhmm.. maybe you're right since coffee naman ang specialty nila. maybe you expected to much din kaya nag-iba ang panlasa. but i know other coffee shop like seattle's that serves great pasta too.

It's rare to find a good pasta served in a coffee place. Most of it are pre-cooked already and just prepped via Microwave. I dunno if it'll pass your standarda, but Seattle's Best has pasta too. Perhaps if it tastes good for you, it'll ease the disappointment. :)

Perhaps, they have something more platable in their menu. I'm interested to try their Five-Cheese Pizza. Happy FTF! Here's my entry: http://www.delightmyappetite.com/2011/07/food-trip-friday-mangan/

Is that olive oil and some herbs? Love that one with garlic bread.

i♥pinkc00kies said...

ZehnRe: well i dont recommend it.

Kim: no, just oil. that's from the pasta.

peachkins: didnt expect this from them either.. considering that it's kinda pricey. Pizza hut's aglio olio (which is only P99!!) is way, way better!

been to an italian resto before but haven't tried this. thanks for dropping by my YS entry!

Madz said...

Wow! I thought it was sauce or the cream on that plate! I never thought it was oil! Eww! Looks like that resto needs some overhaul.

Though I love the looks of the food with your shot. Happy weekend!

Hope to see you in my blog.

Bumi-bingo na si Figaro ah.... ikaw na ang pang-apat na nabasahan ko ng rant against Figaro. I still haven't tasted their foods and drinks, pero baka hindi ko na rin bisitahin. Haha.

Jean Soo said...

oh gosh, that's bad! waited for 20 mins only to hv your foods dry and reheated. ><

Midge said...

The only thing I find edible at Figaro (apart from the drinks, that is) is the chocolate muffin. Anything else off the menu is rather substandard in my book.

Five cheese pizza, I guess if that is done right it would be really awesome!

Hi

The problem with Figaro is the service is usually so slow! I hope they better improve on that aspect.
