Pianono

Pianono is one of my delicacies from Bicol.

It's their local version of chiffon cake roll with ground pili and yema filling in the middle.

Some bakeries sell this in Manila but their version only has buttercream in the middle and the cake itself is covered with sugar. I've tried the ones from Panaderia Pantoja and Fortune Bakeshop but it tastes just like plain mamon.

Still, nothing beats the one from Bicol... really, really yummy! The pili nuts adds twist and flavor to the chiffon roll. Mmmmm!! Hope you get a chance to try this too. :)

I never knew this delicious thing came from Bicol, my mom is a Bicolano but never tried it from their province. I always try this in Manila, love the taste love the texture!

Oh yes, pianono is one of my favourites, too. It's always in our list of meriendas when I used to work in Naga City.

gusto ko nyan...

i usually eat pianono that are commercially available lang and as you said, buttercream lang ang filling and coated with sugar so reading the bicol version kind of makes me drool, hahaha...

Me too! I never knew Bicol had this! I love Hizon's Pianono, but I don't think they put pili in the filling. But I super love the yema filling they use. :)

@ chief: i think they have this in Dolor's Kakanin (the one who sells yummy sapin sapin) but they call it yema roll? and it's smaller/ cut into bite size pieces.
